Reserves

Yeah I know… It’s been a LONG while since I have updated anything. I’ll start from this past November. On November 26, 2008 you all know that I enlisted in the army reserves at MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) in Salt Lake City, Utah. Before I went I was told it is the hardest part of joining the military. All MEPS is, is a HUGE doctors office. It’s an all over physical. They check everything from you head to toes. In my opinion it wasn’t that bad at all. The only thing I wanted to do was eat some darn turkey and get it all over with. So about ten hours later I swore in and officially became a part of the United States Army Reserves.

My MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) is a chemical operations specialist. This will be my job in the Army for the next 6 years. I don’t know much about it yet. A chemical operations specialist deals with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear hazards in the air. I am NOT one of those guys that walk around in a big white suite like you saw in E.T. I will actually be working with a vehicle called a BIDS (Biological Integrated Detection System) here are some pictures of them…

i am told this is the beast. It's the brains of it all

TODAY WAS MY FIRST DAY IN MY FIRST RESERVE WEEKEND!!! I know exciting huh. This is my new job and so far... I LOVE IT, if you couldn’t tell already. Today was all of my in processing so I didn’t do much. But tomorrow my day will start at 7 in the morning with some PT (Physical Training) LOTS of acronyms in the military. I gotta get used to it.

Well I had a pretty fun day, amazing and different. I met a lot of new people today. Thank goodness they all wear name badges or I would go crazy.
